Using MOTHERLAND

MOTHERLAND is operated as a private company, not a charity. By using the site you agree to these terms. Much of the platform is free to read and play; some features require an account or a paid plan.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. Accounts for children are created and managed by a parent, teacher or school. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Plans and payments

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually in pounds sterling through our payment provider and renew automatically until you cancel. You can change or cancel a plan at any time from your billing page; cancelling stops the next renewal and your plan runs to the end of the period you have already paid for. Contributions to support development are voluntary, are not charitable donations, are not tax-deductible, and do not grant ownership, influence or paid features.

Content and contributions

The library, retellings, maps, games and films are ours or licensed to us; you may read, share links and use them for personal study or classroom teaching, but not republish or resell them. Anything you submit — stories, knowledge-bank entries, images, ideas and reviews — is governed by our contribution terms, which you accept at the point of submitting.

Advertising

Free and signed-out visitors may see adverts, which help keep the platform open. They are shown only where you have allowed advertising cookies, are always labelled, and never appear inside family, classroom or school areas or during a game round. Every paid plan removes adverts entirely.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the platform: no unlawful, hateful or harassing material, no attempt to break, overload or scrape the service, no impersonation, and no uploading of work you do not have the right to share. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.

Accuracy

We work from scholarship and label how strongly each claim is supported, including where it is debated or recorded as oral tradition. Even so, the platform is offered for learning, not as professional, legal, medical or genealogical advice.

Liability and changes

The service is provided as it is; we do not promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free, and our liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before a claim. Nothing here limits rights you have by law as a consumer. We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. MOTHERLAND is a trading name operated by AVIMIS GROUP LTD (company no. 17300701), registered in England and Wales, and references to "we", "us" and "our" in these terms mean that company.
